After hours, I DJ at local Lindy Hop dance events, and it occurred to me recently that it could be interesting to visualize my playlists to understand more about what I actually played. Using<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><a style=\"color: #4682b4; text-decoration: none;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.exaile.org\/\">Exaile<\/a>, I&#8217;m able to easily add a lot of metadata to the tracks in my collection, and its plugin framework made it easy to take that data and do something interesting with it.<\/p>\n<p>From that initial investigation, I&#8217;ve built in a playlist visualization templating engine plugin for<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><a style=\"color: #4682b4; text-decoration: none;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.exaile.org\/\">Exaile<\/a><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/span>that can do some very simple visualization stuff, and I&#8217;m planning on extending the types of things I can do with it. Here&#8217;s an interesting one I created from a recent playlist. This visualization was inspired by<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><a style=\"color: #4682b4; text-decoration: none;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.findtheconversation.com\/concept-map\/\">The Concept Map<\/a>, except the source code for this isn&#8217;t minified. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>Check out the visualization at\u00c2\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/bl.ocks.org\/virtuald\/ea7438cb8c6913196d8e\">bl.ocks.org<\/a> (works best in Chrome).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At work, I&#8217;ve been playing a little bit with visualization of data in D3.
